In darkness, projectors illuminate sheets of cloudy plastic hanging from a ceiling, turning them into screens displaying looping videos. There are many sheets hung in staggered rows throughout the dark space.

WHISPERING VOICES

The videos are chiefly of worried faces of young men and women from different racial backgrounds, some of them speaking, some just staring. Intercut with the footage of people are fleeting fragments of quotes in distorted white lettering. One reads, "you will deny my childhood," and another, "watch you with dead eyes."

The talking heads of the young men and women have different backdrops: scrolling horizontal lines, glowing lights, digital flames rising, a swirling white shape. Another quote fragment reads, "build cities tight and high".

MAN: I swam over slippery rocks. I followed the icy water until it disappeared.

Some of the speakers in the videos are becoming agitated or emotional. One figure is only a silhouette, and the image shakes violently as though reflected in moving water.

We are the seeds you will plant in plastic.

Some of the quote fragments are too distorted to read, but one contains the words "the glacial water", and another states, "We are your stagnant future."

Moving shadows in the videos start to obscure the faces of the young women projected onto the foremost plastic sheets.
